Fem-post-hardcore act, Midnight Peg, return with Skinning – twelve high-strung cuts of paranoid contemplation and shredded anger on the hooks. Somehow louder, sharper and scuzzier than their debut, it’s full of both intent and misdirection, packing a ton of heart. Noise, post-punk, emo & experimentalism underpin motifs of sexuality, survival, absurd ritual and the ubiquity of violence. Like any great punk album since the first primordial blast, beneath the bedlam sits a meticulous touch.
