Killing California was originally recorded in the bedroom of Joey T in Fallbrook, CA, in 2009. He mixed/mastered it himself for a small self-release by the band that year. Shortly thereafter, the band met Felony Ron and somehow convinced him to put it out on Felony Records. It was then mixed/mastered by Matty Sushi at Sushifish Recording in San Diego, CA and released on CD/digital in 2010 on Felony Records. As time went by, the band didn’t really like how it sounded compared to their later releases. So in 2024 they sent it to TJ Rivera, who re-mixed and mastered it yet again! And then it took Strike Twelve over a year to put it all together and actually release it.
With a first vinyl pressing in mind, they decided to rearrange the tracklist for the Side A and Side B format, also added a few vocal changes/harmonies that they had worked into the live set after the original release. AND they included the two cover songs that was recorded during the original sessions but had never released. Strike Twelve is excited to be putting out this new and improved version as the first combined Felony Records / Thousand Islands Records release!
